Below is the DC DPR Open Gym schedule. No registration needed; drop ins welcomed!

Open Gym is for all ages unless otherwise indicated.

The Adult Beginner program is a terrific introduction for adults who are interested in learning the basics of tennis. This class will go over the fundamentals of tennis focusing on basic stroke development including forehands, backhands, volleys, and serves. No prior experience is necessary. Please note racquets will not be provided. Make sure to bring water and wear appropriate tennis shoes that have a low profile and a wide outer base at the toe. No running shoes please.

YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN TENNIS RACQUET. Class sizes for adult and junior lessons will be small with 6 people maximum per class and for socials there will be 6 people max per court so we can space everyone out accordingly. You must register in advance for adult classes/tennis socials in order to participate and we will not accept walk-ups.

The Adult Intermediate program is geared for the player who has achieved stroke dependability and direction on shots within reach, including forehand and backhand volleys, but still lacks depth and variety. Emphasis will be placed on more aggressive net play, footwork skills to improve court coverage, and focus on groundstroke specifics (control, direction, depth, and power). The Tiny Tot program is a terrific introduction to tennis for children, emphasizing fun and success. Played on a modified court, this program will include skill-building games and basic stroke production. Players will work on tracking the ball, hand-eye coordination, and balance with Parents being involved in the action. A parent must be present for class. Please note racquets will not be provided and please bring water and/or a snack! Red(36ft) tennis balls. 4-6 yrs old.

The Junior Beginner program is for juniors who are new to the game. Players will play on a 36-foot or 60-foot court with Red (30ft) or Orange (60ft) tennis balls. Class will provide a good foundation while emphasizing proper stroke mechanics and basic footwork. Again, “FUN” is the magic word. Please note racquets will not be provided. Please bring water and/or a snack!

If you are registered for a session of DPR Summer Camp, you are guaranteed a space in Before and After Care during that session at that recreation center.

After Care Hours: 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm (Late fees will be charged if your child is picked up late)

The $20 fee covers both Before and After Care (your child can attend one or both; no discounts for only needing one or the other)
