Learn to Swim for Parent & Child Level A at Deanwood Aquatic Center
Familiarize children between the ages of 6 months and approximately 1.99 years with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. Provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water.
No skill prerequisites
Child must be at least 6 months old
Parent must accompany child to each class
Skills Taught
• Learning water safety behavior and getting comfortable with different depths.
• Underwater exploration—in shallow water or deep with the parents assistance
• Explore opening eyes and retrieve submerged or floating objects
• Learning to float, fall into the water kick and front craw with parents or independent
• Learning many survival skills like resurfacings and finding edge of pool and climbing out of the water.
