Senior Swim I: Learning The Basics at Takoma Aquatic Center
Learn to Swim for Senior Level I:Students will learn how to feel comfortable in the water and safely enjoy it.
Prerequisites: None
To maintain social distance class capacities have been reduced. Masks are required outside of the water. Appropriate swim attire is required.
Objectives:
• Enter and exit water using ladder, steps or side
• Blow bubbles through mouth and nose
• Bobbing
• Open eyes under water and retrieve submerged objects
• Front and back glides and back float
• Recover to vertical position from a front glide and back
• Combined arm and leg actions on front with alternating arm action, 2 body lengths
• Front crawl, 15 yards
• Combined arm and leg actions on front with simultaneous arm action (modified breaststroke), 2 body lengths
• Breaststroke, 15 yards
• Elementary backstroke, 15 yards
• Scissors kick, 15 yards
